How we work
Who we are, how we are paid, where our numbers come from, and what we do with your information.
Who we are
Obsidian Metrics makes educational AI and money tools for a changing job market. The tools help you see your own numbers more clearly. They do not make decisions for you.
How we make money
We are paid in two main ways: paid tiers (Free, Premium and VIP; the free level is called Standard on Skool), which you can buy on our website or through our community on Skool, and, on some pages, affiliate links. From our site: “We may earn affiliate commissions from links.” Most tools on the App Hub are free; a few are part of Premium or VIP and are labeled that way. Current prices are on the pricing page.
From our privacy policy: “We do not sell personal information in exchange for monetary consideration.” The privacy policy also explains how we use Google Ads cookies and how to opt out.
How the numbers work
Each tool works from the numbers you enter plus public data. Each tool names its own sources; the main ones include:
- U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS): public domain.
- O*NET 31.0 (U.S. Department of Labor): used under the CC BY 4.0 license. Credit and notice below.
- U.S. Department of the Treasury: public domain.
- U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA): public domain.
- U.S. Census Bureau: public domain.
- Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED®) and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA): used through their public APIs; not endorsed or certified by them.
The Data Board names the source, date and licence on every tile.
This page includes information from the O*NET 31.0 Database by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (USDOL/ETA). Used under the CC BY 4.0 license. O*NET® is a trademark of USDOL/ETA.
Obsidian Metrics has modified all or some of this information. USDOL/ETA has not approved, endorsed, or tested these modifications.
These tools estimate from the numbers you enter; your own situation decides the answer.
